If I were getting a grade for this blog I would receive an 'F'. I started out thinking that somehow I would find the time in my hectic schedule to sit and write for several minutes in a day. It has become apparent that I do not have several minutes. While I was thinking about this I wondered if this is the same reason I cannot lose weight. My time management. I am probably the biggest procrastinator on the face of the planet. I have good intentions but usually wait till the pressure builds and pushes me in to action. Maybe I need the added stress to help motivate me to do things to act now and not tomorrow. So maybe I need to create some added stress in order to motivate me to lose weight. Not that I need more stress in my life, because at times that cup seems to run over, but that if I want to lose weight (I want to lose weight) I may need to create some temporary stress to get me started.
For now I will leave with this thought and maybe, hopefully not a year from now, I'll come back with an answer.

Makeover Monday
Today was a very good day! I woke up ready for my workout and although it is still very difficult for me to make it through, I made it through. I have been eating a lot better now because I feel like when you start working out your body just starts to crave more healthy things. I feel like I have been sleeping better and waking up more refreshed than I have in a long time.
There is a new show called "Extreme makeover; weight loss edition" that I have been drawn in to watching like a moth to a flame. I have to say that I don't normally like weight loss shows because I think they are more a form of entertainment not a form of informative weight loss. I feel like for most of these shows they make us impatient and make us seek for a quick result. I like this new show because it shows that the weight loss can take a long time. It follows its "contestants" for a whole year and you get to see the hard work they put in. These people take 2-4 hours everyday to workout for a whole year and many of them are not finished with their journey at the end. It gives anyone out there a chance to see that it takes patience and perseverance to get through and meet your goal.
This show gives me a little more motivation to keep going. For now I'll keep watching.

The Weekend
It has been tough to keep up with everything. I find myself wondering how I will have time to do everything that I need to and still be able to workout. I know that the result is worth it, I want to reach my goals, and I want to be able to live a good life. I just need to keep my thoughts on my goals and not lose sight of them. Sometimes in life we are given trials that we think that we can't get through and we learn we are stronger than we thought we were. I hope this is one of those times.
It has been a good weekend and I am looking forward to another week of workouts down. I have lost 2 inches!! YAY!! I am not weighing myself yet because I just want to focus on how I feel and not get caught up on the numbers. Hope you are doing well too! Keep up the good work!

Fantastic Friday
Yay!! We did it! We completed our first full week of our new life! Today for dinner we had vegetarian stroganoff. It was delicious! The workout was very difficult today because I am so sore but I'm just trying to push through it. It will get easier eventually. When it starts to get easy than I will have to find new ways to challenge my body. I have found some more good recipes and will be posting them soon and will be posting some videos of me making them and trying them. I am feeling good and maybe we will see some results from this past week, I'll let you know for sure! Good night Fat Kat readers, have a happy, healthy weekend!!
Thriving Thursday
I'm feeling the burn. The new 2 mile workout is very, very hard right now. I have to push myself all the way through it. To help push me I pretend that anyone who reads my blog is there with me cheering me on. About 15 min into the 30 min workout I am so tired I want to stop but I tell myself it is only 15 more min and then I can relax. I have been extremely thirsty lately and craving ice water. I suppose with all the work I have been doing my body needs that water in order to recuperate. I have found that some of my sweet cravings have started to go away. Yay!! Keep up the good work!!
Whiney Wednesday
Today just seems like one of those days when you just want to kick back and watch the weight fall off. I still worked out though because I know that I will probably have more of these days in the future and it is too soon to just give up. It is difficult to be this committed to something that is so hard. I changed my workout to a 2 mile aerobics program because I can do it any time and in the cool house. I guess I decided to start a workout program in the wrong season because it is way too hot! I just step outside and I'm sweating. I would like to go back to running but for now the 2 mile aerobics is kicking my butt (literally). Hope everyone is doing good and feeling the FAT fall off!!

Tricky Tuesday
Today I woke up feeling much better, No Migraine!! It is extremely hard to get back in to the groove of things when you have had to take a day off, especially when I just started working out last week. I do think that it is important to take care of yourself and if I had worked out yesterday I probably would not have felt better today. I may be sore and tired but nothing beats the feeling you get when you take the time to do something just for you. I am sure everyone has times in their life when you put your own needs on the back burner. My workout time, as short as it is right now, is a moment in my day when I am just focused on me. I never knew what I was missing. When I am working out and I hit a moment when I feel like giving up I give myself a pep talk. I tell myself to just go a little further and then that feeling passes. Although I have yet to feel refreshed and energized from my workouts I am not giving up. Someday I will finish my exercise and feel like I could go all day. When I feel like giving up I find that listening to some inspiring music can always lift my spirits. What is a song that you feel empowers you?

Migraine Monday
Well today has not been a good day for me. I woke up this morning not being able to move my neck at all and had one of the worst migraines I have ever had. I did not work out this morning because of how awful I was feeling. This lack of workout today gave me a chance to think about some things. Why do I want to lose weight? I have to make it perfectly clear that I do not have low self esteem, I do not want to do this to please others, I know my family would love me whatever I looked like, and I only want to lose weight to be healthier.
The start of my story happened one day when I was watching one of those "weight loss" shows. There was a woman on the show that weighed the same as me and I found myself watching it and saying to myself "I don't look like that, I carry my weight different." I realized while looking through photos that 300 lbs looks like 300 lbs. I think all of us have a different perception of what we really look like. You know the sayings "the camera adds ten pounds", there is something wrong with the dressing room mirrors, and there must be something wrong with that outfit. When it comes down to it we never look the way we perceive ourselves to look. My eyes see the skinny person buried inside of the fat me. I don't want to be a size two, I still want to enjoy life and enjoy food, and I just want to be able to take a walk with my kids without feeling out of breath before we even get one block.
No one is going to make me lose the weight but me. I think that many of the "weight loss" shows we see on TV have given us a skewed perception of how fast we can lose weight. Losing weight takes patience and being in for the long haul. We will not get immediate rewards. Do not give up! Keep up the hard work!
What is your favorite healthy snack?

The weekend
For most people weekends can be a welcome break to their exercise regimen. I spent my weekend doing yard work and I am still sore today from all the weed pulling. Gardening is suprisingly therapuetic and very good exercise. It also feels good to sleep in instead of waking up before the kids are awake to go for a jog. Sleep is an important part of any good weight loss program, everyone should make sure that they are getting at least 8 hours of sleep, the sleep time helps allow your body to repair itself. Even though my weekends are workout free I find myself trying to still find new ways to give my body a workout during the day. I hope your weekend was good and you are well rested for our new week of workouts together!
Second Day
This morning I overslept. It is so hard sometimes with everything that goes on in our everyday lives to wake up. Since I overslept I had to adjust my workout. With my cable company they offer exercise programs on demand that you can access in your own home anytime you want. I chose a walking aerobics program that gives you a workout equal to a mile. This program is easy enough for anyone to start a workout. Here is a link for the website of the workout that I did : http://www.walkathome.com/. If you are not ready to run there are lots of things you can do to just start moving. For most people they feel energized after they workout, like they just got a burst of energy. For me it is the opposite, I feel more tired after working out. I know that it will probably take some time for me to get that good feeling when I workout. Keep up the good work and don't give up!

Day One
Well it took me about half an hour to do a mile this morning. Did you know anyone can run? You don't have to look like a super model in order to run. I am not saying it was easy but I RAN. It felt kind of good to be out of breath from running instead of it being from housework :) I just ran until I felt like I couldn't anymore and then walked until I regained my breath, then ran again, and repeated the cycle for the full mile. I think I probably was able to run through half a mile. I would say that is good. Any activity at this point would at least help burn calories. I came home and did a 15 minute meditation, I will call this my brain workout. It seems like every time I meditate it feels so good to just release all my thoughts in to the world. It also gives me some time to stretch after my workout. Anyone have a favorite workout song?
And so we begin
My name is Kat. I am 30 years old, a mother of three beautiful kids, a CNA, a full time student hoping to get in to nursing, and I am FAT. I am frustrated with fat. Too many diet plans are formed by people who have never been fat or who used their plan to lose 20 lbs. and think we are all lucky to have their wisdom. Doctors like to blame everything on our fat. Even if I get the flu and go to the doctor he tells me, "if you would lose weight you would feel so much better." If everyone's health problems are caused by obesity, then why don't health insurance companies pay for our gym memberships? I agree that as a society we have become ... FAT. In our economic times, when every penny counts, how are we supposed to buy health food? I am not wealthy by any means. I don't have a chef. I don't have a gym membership. I can't afford healthier food, but maybe I CAN make changes with what I currently have. I don't need a gym to workout. I don't need a chef to make healthy food, and I don't need anyone telling me I can't do something. I decided to do this blog to help hold me accountable to myself and if it helps anyone else out there GREAT!
My long term goal is to lose 150 lbs, whether it takes one year or two, I'll keep going till its gone. My short term goals are to lose about 3-5 lbs every week. Some weeks might be more and some might be less.
Starting tomorrow, I will be walking one mile with running sprints for as long as I can handle it in between walking. I'm hoping I can end up running about half of the mile. I am planning on doing workouts 5 days a week and taking off saturday and sunday to keep me sane.
For my diet, I am planning on adding a small breakfast because right now I really only eat one meal per day, so I need to give my metabolism a kick start. I will be doing my own food journal and recommend you do the same. I am amazed at how much just having to write something down helps me pay more attention to what I am putting in my mouth. I am also planning on using a smaller plate at meals to help cut down on my portion size.
My starting weight is: 310 lbs.
My waist is: 52 inches
My height: 5 ft 2 inches I hope that doesn't change ;)
I will be posting a small post everyday just to tell you how I'm doing and hope to do one larger post on the weekend to share my thoughts on the week. Good Luck!!!
